I am delighted to receive the first woman President of Nepal – Indian President Mukharjee



Nepal Foreign Affairs (KATHMANDU, 20 April) – Indian President Pranab Mukharjee has appreciated Nepali President Bidhya Devi Bhandari for choosing India as her first abroad visit.

While  tweeting about the Nepal-India relations after a day of his meetings with Nepali counterpart, he said,” I am delighted to have this opportunity to receive the first woman President of Nepal.  Choice of India for the first State Visit abroad by Nepal President is appreciated.’

Highlighting the major features of existing bilateral relations, President extended all possible support to Nepali government and People for their priorities.

‘Nepal is passing through crucial phase in its quest for peace, stability and multi-party democracy.’ he said,’ India is committed to extending all possible support in accordance with priorities of people and Government of Nepal.’

President Mukharjee said Nepal and India can work with neighbours for better for our peoples and whole region. ‘We believe that the prosperity, Security and Welfare of our two nations are inter-linked and inter-dependent’ he added,’close bonds of kinship& cooperation between Indian & Nepal are defined by geography and enriched by common culuture’.

President also said that the long shared border and national treatment of each other reflect closeness that few other countries share. ‘India deeply values its historical and traditionally close relations with Nepal’.
