Mahara says he requested Indian counterpart to invite Prime Minister Deuba for official visit

Nepal Foreign Affairs (Kathmandu 6 July 2017) – Minister for External Affairs Krishna Bahadur Mahara has requested Indian counterpart to officially invite Prime Minister Sher Bahadur Deuba to visit India.

Informing the parliament about his India visit on Wednesday, Minister Mahara said he informed the wish of Prime Minister Deuba to officially visit India to Indian Foreign Minister Shusma Swaraj.

”Embassies of both countries will finalize the date of the prime minister’s visit and make other necessary preparations” he said in parliament.

Usually, every new Nepali Prime Minister gets verbal invitation to visit India from Indian Prime Minister. But Nepali Congress president Deuba,  who assumed office on 7 June, has not received the official invitation from Indian side.

Deuba had become prime minister as per the tripartite agreement among Nepali Congress and Maoist Centre of Nepal and Indian establishment. The KP Sharma Oli led government had been ousted by India’s game plan supported by Deuba and Prachanda.

Maoist Chairman Prachanda executed the India’s plan for nine months and now Deuba has been doing the same.

In the parliament, Minister Mahara also said India has congratulated Nepal for successfully  holding the local polls. He said,”I briefed the Indian foreign minister about the current political situation of Nepal and she congratulated Nepal for holding the local polls successfully.”

During his three-day visit Minister Mahara also discussed about other bilateral issues including the timely completion of joint projects.
