Minister Pandey to leave for Jakarta Saturday

Minister for Foreign Affairs Mahendra Bahadur Pandey is leaving for Jakarta, Indonesia on Saturday to attend the Asian-African Ministerial Meeting on April 20.

The Ministerial Meeting is being organized in the context of Asian-African Summit to be held on 22-23 April in Jakarta. The Ministerial Meeting will be preceded by the Senior Officials Meeting on 19 April in which Officiating Foreign Secretary Shanker Das Bairagi will participate.

Minister will also hold bilateral meetings with his counterparts from the neighboring and other countries in Indonesia. The Asian-African Summit will be followed by the commemoration of the 60th Anniversary of the Asian-African Conference of 1955 (Bandung Conference) and the 10th Anniversary of the New Asian-African Strategic Partnership which will be held on 24 April in Bandung, Indonesia.

Prime Minister will lead a Nepalese delegation to participate in the Summit as well as in the commemoration event being held in Bandung. The Summit as well as the commemoration event is being held under the theme of “Strengthening South-South Cooperation to Promote World Peace and Security”. After the conclusion of the Ministerial Meeting, Minister will join the Prime Minister and will attend the Summit and commemorative event in Bandung as a member of the Nepalese delegation. He is scheduled to return to Nepal on April 26.
