Nepal deplores North Korea before PM’s New York sojourn



Nepal Foreign Affairs (KATHMANDU, 17 September 2017) – Nepal has deplored the missile test carried out by the Democratic People’s Republic of Korea on 15 September 2017 in violation of UN Security Council resolutions, including the latest ones.

Nepal has also said that peace and stability should be prevailed in Korean Peninsula.

Issuing a press realese on Sunday, Ministry for Foreign Affairs (MoFA) has made clear its position  on the very conentious issue of Nuclear test that has been dividing the world.

Before the Prime Minister Sher Bahadur Deuba is embaking on ten days visit to New York to attend the United Nations General Assembly (UNGA), Nepal government has strongly condemned North Korea.

”It is regretted that DPRK has for some time carried out nuclear tests and launched missiles despite the repeated calls of the UN Security Council and international community” reads the statement.

North Korea has been cosntantly denying the US and UN and using the language of threat that Pyongyang has long range missiles can esily target US.  Nepal has long been maintaining mum over this issue of korean peninsula.

”In line with her consistent policy of general and complete disarmament of all weapons of mass destruction, Nepal stands against such tests and launches” the statemenet further reads,” Nepal wishes to see peace and stability on the Korean peninsula.”
