Nepal Foreign Affairs (KATHMANDU, 18 September 18) – Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for Foreign Affairs, Krishna Bahadur Mahara has said Nepal will, through the 72nd session of United Nations General Assembly (UNGA), inform the world community about the Nepal’s historic peace process.
The Foreign Minister, talking before leaving for New York to take part in the UNGA, said the world would be formally informed about the successful completion of the peace process.
Prime Minister Sher Bahadur Deuba and his delegation are leaving for New York tomorrow, Tuesday to take part in the Session underway since September 12.
The PM is heading a 20-member high delegation to the UNGA and will be addressing the session on September 23.
“Some western countries have shown concerns about the transitional justice in Nepal during the peace process, we try our best to inform the world community about that historical phenomenon which is itself a unique one and we have taken the UNGA as an opportunity to apprise the world about our significant achievement,” DPM Mahara added.
His opinion was that Nepal’s participation in the discussions to be held for the preparation of the Joint Declaration to be submitted in the UNGA on behalf of the Least Developed Countries and Landlocked Developing Countries would be of high significance.
The Session is to prepare the Joint Declaration about international rights relating to trade and transit facilities in the global market for the LDCs and landlocked countries.
DPM Mahara flew to New York on Sunday itself to attend the UN Session. He will chair the SAARC ministerial meeting to be held on September 21 on the sidelines of the Session.
Nepal has taken the meeting as an important achievement at a time when the SAARC ministerial-level meeting could not take place. RSS
