Pakistani Prime Minister arriving Nepal to congratulate Prime Minister Oli

Nepal Foreign Affairs (KATHMANDU, 2 March 2018) – Pakistani Prime Minister Shahid Khaqan Abbasi is arriving Nepal on 2 March for two day official visit.

Chief Advisor to Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli, Bishnu Rimal, has  informed that Pakistani Prime Minister’s Nepal visit is to congratulate Prime Minister Oli for the assumption of high office.

According to the sources, Prime Minister Abbasi will meet President Bidhya Devi Bhandari and other senior leaders\officials. Abbasi will be the first foreign head of government to visit Nepal after Oli took charge of the premiership.

It is said that Pakistani PM will discuss about the 19th SAARC Summit with Nepal’s Prime Minister, as Nepal is the current chair of the SAARC. The 19th Summit, which was scheduled to be held in Islamabad on sept.2016 was cancelled at the eleventh hour after India decided to boycott the summit.

Prime Minister Abbas will brief Prime Minister Oli that the former would be ready to hold 19th SAARC Summit. India seems reluctant to make SAARC an effective forum instead focusing on BBIN and BIMSTEC, where Pakistan is not included.
