Vice President Jha likely to visit China next month



Nepal Foreign Affairs (Kathmandu, Aug 16) : Vice President Paramanand Jha is likely to visit China from September 24 to 26, diplomatic sources said.

The vice president will be attending the Euro-Asia Economic Forum 2015 to be held in Xian, China.

Shanghai Cooperation Organization invited the vice president Jha a few weeks ago. Nineteen Chinese Ministries, hosting by Xian Municipal Government and around 20 overseas and domestic NGOs and department, 2015 Euro-Asia Economic Forum (EAEF) is to be held on September 24-26 at Qujiang International Conference Center, Xian.

The forum will be held under a theme of “Build the Silk Road Economic Belt”. Nepal agreed to become a part of the Silk Road Economic Belt last December. Nepal entered as the dialogue partner of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization on July 11 from the SCO summit in Russia.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs has already given positive response to the vice president’s participation at the event, a source said. However, the prime minister’s office has yet to give nod for the vice president’s trip to the northern neighbor.

Chinese vice President Li Yuanchao who is said to be attending the event will also hold bilateral talks with vice president Jha, the sources said.

With the profound changes of world economy structure, Shanghai Cooperation Organization has aimed further promoting the in-depth regional economic collaboration. Meanwhile, after the close of 18th People Congress of CCPC, China is stepping into a new historic period.

“Under such a crucial moment and 10 year operations, this year EAEF can be one of the most glory economic forums in the world by launching a hot wave to stimulate the concrete collaborations and sustainable development between European and Asian Countries so as to seek new solutions to mutual economic booming for every country within these two great continents and beyond,” read the statement posted on the official website of the Euro-Asia Economic Forum 2015.

The organizer has expressed hope that through this grand economic event, China will deliver the key messages and claims for translating economic collaboration policy and potentials of Shanghai Cooperation Organization into real outcome. “On the other hand, Euro-Asia Economic Forum advocates accelerating the formation of Euro-Asia inland regional opened economic structure ASAP for the future economic growth,” the statement said.

Since the outbreak of global financial crisis, Shanghai Cooperation organization is persistently advocating and promoting the unification of Europe and Asia Economic Zones to meet the challenges of economic risks and difficulties.

“Great progress has been made in many perspectives through a spectrum of initiatives such as the partnership structures, risk prevention mechanisms and the regional economic integration etc,” the organization said.

At the Beijing Summit of Shanghai Cooperation Organization in June, 2012, all member countries have recognized that current working focus has already shifted from a legal mechanism establishment toward promoting real collaborations in all economic perspectives.

“However, it is still a challenge to know how to convert so many initiatives proposed by member countries’ top leaders into practical collaboration projects. This year’s forum will discuss and reach a series of agreements on how to enhance mutual sharing of infrastructure constructions, trade promotions, Investment Liberalization & Facilitation and joint-ventured demonstration parks for systematic explorations and collaboration in energy, finance, science and technologies, emerging industries, non-resource development and the people’s livelihood oriented industries. EAEF 2015 hopes to promote mutual economic prosperity in the new era by launching key projects and major tasks within member countries,” the statement added.
