Academic institutions should promote nationality: Prime Minister Oli



KATHMANDU (31 December 2018) – Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli has said that the various academic institutions of the country should take art, literature and culture ahead by integrating scholars for the promotion of nationality. 


Administering oath of office and secrecy to office-bearers of the Nepal Academy of Music and Drama and Nepal Academy of Fine Arts at Singha Durbar on Monday, Prime Minister Oli, Chief Patron of the Academy, said that such institutions should produce human resources as per the need of the society. 


He stressed on the need of protecting the country’s history, traditions, literature and culture, while directing the office-bearers of the concerned academy to be responsible towards the institution and society. “The ancient art made by our forefathers has made our art prosperous in the world,” the Prime Minister said. 


Similarly, Minister for Culture, Tourism and Civil Aviation and Patron of the Academy, Rabindra Prasad Adhikari, urged the office-bearers to be active in protection of country’s art and literature as well as culture. 


Newly appointed Chancellor of the Nepal Academy of Music and Drama, Narayan Bhakta Shrestha (Rayan), Vice-Chancellor Harihar Sharma, and Member-Secretary Shyam Prakash Tamot as well as Chancellor of Nepal Academy of Fine Arts, Kanchha Kumar (KK) Karmacharya, Vice-Chancellor Gopal Chitrakar and Member-Secretary Bipin Kumar Ghimire, administered the oath of office and secrecy.
