Bangladeshi woman rescued 10 months ago being deported



Nepal Foreign Affairs (KATHMANDU, 19 July 2019) – A Bangladeshi woman, who was rescued from the street of Nawalparasi West ten months ago along with her new born baby, is being deported to her home country on coming Monday.

The Nepal-based Embassy of Bangladesh is facilitating her handover process. The woman with mental disorder at the time had wandered towards Nepal.

The District Police Office Nawalparasi on August 26, 2018 found the woman who seems in her mid 40’s with her new born baby along with the umblical cord, rescued her and took her to the hospital. She recovered following the four-month long treatment.

During her treatment, she was kept at the Lalitpur-based Koshis Nepal, an organisation providing mental health services and the child had remained under the protection of Prithvichandra Hospital under the supervision of the women police for six months.

Radio Parasi’s Malati Neupane who had an experience of working in Bangladesh for one year facilitated in having contact with her family and documentation process to send her back to home. The Manav Sewa Ashram has managed her air ticket for July 22. As she said, she is happy that she is going back to her home.
