KATHMANDU- The government has approved the visit of Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal ‘Prachanda’ to the upcoming United Nations General Assembly (UNGA).
The 78th session of the UNGA is being held at the United Nations headquarters in New York, USA from September 5 where the high-level General Debate will be held on September 19. The meeting of the Council of Ministers convened at the Office of Prime Minister and Council of Ministers in Singha Durbar today took the decision to this effect, according to Minister for Communications and Information Technology, Rekha Sharma.
PM Dahal will be leading the Nepali delegation to the event themed ‘Rebuilding trust and reigniting global solidarity’. Minister Sharma, also Spokesperson of the government, further shared that the meeting decided to approve loan assistance of over 3.29 billion Japanese Yen to be provided by the Government of Japan for the Dhulikhel Hospital based Trauma and Emergency Centre Reform Project.
Similarly, the Cabinet decided to give approval to the Nepal Securities Board to revise Securities and Issuance Seventh Amendment Regulations-2080 BS in accordance with the Securities Act-2063 BS, Section 116, sub-section 1, according to the Minister.
The government decided to confer the title of ‘Jana gayak’ (People’s Singer) to late JB Tuhure known for his progressive songs and music that contributed in heralding political changes in the country. Tuhure also served as the member of second Constituent Assembly, representing the then CPN (Maoist). He passed away in 2021 at the age of 78. Likewise, today’s meeting also expressed sorrow over the demise of father of Minister for Culture, Tourism and Civil Aviation Sudan Kirati and paid tributes to the departed soul. The meeting also extended heartfelt condolences to the bereaved family. —
