China ready to supply fuel amid India’s economic blockade on Nepal



Nepal Foreign Affairs (Kathmandu, Oct. 27)—Amid India’s deliberate blockade on Nepal, China has expressed her readiness to supply fuel to Nepal, on Tuesday.

Speaking at a press conference in Beijing, Spokesperson at the Chinese Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Hua Chunying said “Chinese side is ready to offer necessary assistance at the request of the Nepali government as a friendly neighbor to relieve its shortage of fuel supply.” The spokesperson also said that Chinese and Nepali sides are in close communication regarding providing fuel to Nepal.

Recently, the Chinese government decided to provide 1000 tons of petroleum products in grant to Nepal at the request of the Nepali government. According to the Nepal Oil Corporation, the petroleum products will be brought to Nepal via Kerung, a city located at the Nepal-China border. “We expect that the fuel tankers which are now stationed in Kerung will reach Kathmandu by the end of this week,” an official at the NoC told NFA.
