China ready to work with new government of Nepal, says Chinese Foreign Ministry Spokesman



BEIJING, June 7 (Xinhua) — China has congratulated Sher Bahadur Deuba on his election as prime minister of Nepal and is looking forward to work with the new government to enhance China-Nepal ties, a spokesperson for the Foreign Ministry said Wednesday.

Chinese Premier Li Keqiang has sent a congratulatory message to Deuba, spokeswoman Hua Chunying told a routine press briefing.

“As a friendly neighbor of Nepal, China sincerely hopes Nepal will make new achievements on national unity, social stability and economic development,” Hua said. “China is willing to make joint efforts with the new government of Nepal to push forward bilateral friendship and mutual beneficial cooperation.”

Deuba, 70, president of the Nepali Congress, was elected as the 40th prime minister of Nepal Tuesday.
