Nepal Foreign Affairs (KATHMANDU, 21 March 2022) – The Ministry of Foreign Affairs on Monday said that Chinese Foreign Minister and State Councilor Wang Yi will be visiting Nepal from March 25 to 27. Wang is landing in Kathmandu after completing his Pakistan and India visit.
Officials have said that some agreements could be signed for some projects under the Belt and Road Initiative. Similarly, there are also talks about signing some agreements during the visit, according to the officials privy to the visit, both sides will review the past understandings and agreements and explore the new areas of cooperation.
Khadka and Wang Yi will hold bilateral talks, leading their respective delegations, on 26 March, according to the ministry. Wang will also meet with the CPN-UML chair KP Sharma Oli and CPN (Maoist Centre) chair Pushpa Kamal Dahal during his stay in Kathmandu, the ministry said.
Wang’s visit to Nepal comes on the heels of ratification of the Millennium Challenge Corporation Nepal Compact by the Nepali leadership. Nepal’s Parliament ratified the $500 million American grant on February 27 amid reservations from Beijing.
