Chinese Foreign Minister Wang YI meets Prez Yadav, PM Koirala (Press Release)



W020150626604408109284On June 24 local time Foreign Minister Wang Yi met with President Ram Baran Yadav and Prime Minister Sushil Koirala of Nepal respectively in Kathmandu .

President Yadav and PM Koirala thanked Chinese government for sending the Foreign Minister to Nepal for the international conference on Nepal’s reconstruction at the difficult and critical moment for Nepal. After the huge earthquake on April 25, China’s leaders, government, local provinces and regions and people from all circles offered Nepal immediate condolences and rescue, for which the government and people of Nepal are truly grateful. It proves again that China is Nepal’s most reliable friend, closest neighbor and most trustworthy partner. A friend in need is a friend indeed. Nepal expects and believes that China will take an active part in Nepal’s post-disaster reconstruction and make valuable contributions to it. Nepal is willing to work with China to continue firmly supporting each other and constantly enhance Nepal-China comprehensive cooperative partnership. Nepal expresses condolences again over the casualties and losses caused by the earthquake in the Tibet Autonomous Region.

Wang Yi said that as close and friendly neighbors, China and Nepal help each other and are mutually dependent like the lip and teeth. The huge earthquake on April 25 affected China and Nepal at the same time, and both governments and peoples supported each other and tackled the difficulties together. China has tried its best to assist Nepal with its earthquake relief, and is willing to cooperate closely with Nepal in the future and provide all kinds of assistance within its capacity in Nepal’s post-disaster reconstruction.

 

China hopes that with the help of the international community, Nepal will take the reconstruction as an opportunity to promote economic and social transformation and upgrading so as to achieve sustainable development. This year marks the 60th anniversary of the establishment of the diplomatic relations between China and Nepal. It is believed that in the course of earthquake relief and home reconstruction in Nepal, the bilateral traditional friendship would become stronger.

On the same day, Wang Yi also held talks with Foreign Minister Mahendra Bahadur Pandey of Nepal.
