BEIJING- Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli, who is on a four-day official visit to China, was warmly received by Chinese Premier Li Qiang at the Great Hall of the People in Beijing this morning.
As a mark of honour, the People’s Liberation Army (PLA) of China presented a Guard of Honour to Prime Minister Oli in the historic premises of the Great Hall of the People. Chinese Premier Li personally welcomed Prime Minister Oli, reflecting the significance China places on its relationship with Nepal.
During the reception, Prime Minister Oli and Premier Li introduced their respective delegation members ahead of bilateral talks, which are currently underway. These discussions are expected to cover key areas such as trade, investment, connectivity, infrastructure development, and cultural exchanges, aiming to further solidify the ties between the two nations.
Following the bilateral talks, a signing ceremony is scheduled, during which several agreements and memorandums of understanding will be formalized. Prime Minister Oli’s press coordinator, Prakash Silwal, noted that these agreements would mark a significant milestone in Nepal-China relations by fostering deeper collaboration in areas of mutual interest.
Later today, Prime Minister Oli will meet Chinese President Xi Jinping. This meeting is anticipated to delve into broader strategic discussions, including Nepal’s active participation in China’s Belt and Road Initiative (BRI) and the potential for enhanced cooperation on regional and global platforms.
The four-day visit has been widely seen as a pivotal step in strengthening Nepal-China relations. Analysts view it as an opportunity for Nepal to enhance its connectivity, economic prospects, and regional significance while reaffirming its commitment to balanced and mutually beneficial foreign policies.
