Nepal Foreign Affairs (KATHMANDU, 13 March 2019) – Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli has asked people not to give donation to looters.
At a programme organised by Municipal Association of Nepal here on Wednesday on the occasion of its 26th anniversary, Prime Minister Oli said, “Looters will threaten you. Ask for donations. But do not give them donation. Extortion will not help develop the country. Nepali society does not accept such practices.”
He said, “Democracy will be weak if people’s faith towards people’s representative organisations decreases. People make opinion towards democracy on the basis of our conduct. Hence, All should be aware on it.”
Saying secessionist movement ended in the country, PM Oli said, those protesting against the agreement (to bring the secessionist forces to mainstream politics) are the ones making a living out of that agenda.
He also suggested the people’s representatives not to forget the commitments made before the people during the election. The Prime Minister urged the people’s representatives to give opportunity to the poor citizens, not to their relatives, adding that they (people’s representatives), had made commitment before voters to help them and not their relatives during the election.
The Prime Minister further said that he would hold discussion with representatives of Municipal Association, Federation of Rural Municipalities and Association of District Coordination Committees regarding rights of local levels.
On the occasion, PM Oli released a book titled ‘ 100 Good and Innovative Practices of Municipalities’.
