Foreign Minister Khanal to Attend 65th Anniversary NAM Meeting



KATHMANDU- Minister for Foreign Affairs Shisir Khanal is leaving for Belgrade, the capital of Serbia, on August 30, leading a three-member Nepali delegation.     

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs has stated that he is heading there to participate in the high-level commemorative meeting of the Non-Aligned Movement (NAM).     

A high-level commemorative meeting is being held in Belgrade on August 31 and September 1. The first summit of the Non-Aligned Movement took place in Belgrade in 1961.     

On the occasion of the 65th anniversary of NAM, a high-level memorial event is going to be held in Belgrade this year. Leaders from around the world, delegations, and representatives from countries participating in the Non-Aligned Movement will attend the programme.     

Nepal has embraced the principle of non-alignment as the cornerstone of its foreign policy. The constitution has recognized Nepal’s commitment to the non-aligned movement as a major policy.     

Nepal has been participating at a high level in the Non-Aligned Movement from the Bandung Conference to the summits, ministerial meetings, and other gatherings.     

Foreign Affairs Minister Khanal will return home from Serbia on September 2.(RSS)
