Foreign Minister Pandey leaves for Maldives



Nepal Foreign Affairs (KATHMANDU, July 25) : Minister for Foreign Affairs Mahendra Bahadur Pandey has left Kathmandu for the Maldives on Saturday evening on a three-day visit.

The foreign minister will be attending a ceremony to commemorate the Golden Jubilee of the Independence of the Maldives on July 26 and 27 , the Ministry of Foreign Affairs said on Saturday.

The minister will be visiting the Maldives at the invitation of Foreign Minister of the Maldives Dunya Maumoon.

Under Secretary at the Ministry Lok Bahadur Chhetry told Nepal Foreign Affairs that Foreign Minister Pandey will hold bilateral talks with the Maldivian counterpart and call on Maldivian President Abdulla Yameen.

Concluding a two-day visit, the minister is scheduled to arrive in Nepal on July 28. The island nation got independence under an agreement signed with United Kingdom on 26 July 1965.
