‘Foreign policy based on promotion of national interests’



Nepal Foreign Affairs (KATHMANDU, 21 May) –  The government has stated that the nation’s foreign policy will be based on protection and promotion of national interests.

While presenting government’s policy and program for fiscal year 2075/76 BS in a joint session of the federal parliament today, President Bidya Devi Bhandari said that the foreign policy will lay emphasis on advancing mutual benefits and respects as well as international commitment, obligations and justice.

She further noted that the government will review the relevance of Nepalese diplomatic missions abroad with an objective of making them responsible to promote national interest, develop tourism and promote the export of domestic products.

The government policy and program aim to make Nepal’s presence at international forums including the United Nations (UN) effective.

Similarly, the policy and programme will serve the objective to play effective and impartial roles for the protection and promotion of human rights. Nepal is a member of United Nations Human Rights Council. RSS
