Former Prime Minister Khanal questions: Are our executive rights not in cabinet, somewhere else?

"Why couldn't we write the letter to the US government?" Is our executive right that it is not in our cabinet and is it somewhere else?'', he thundered.

Nepal Foreign Affairs (KATHMANDU, 21 July 2022) – Jhalanath Khanal, former Prime Minister and senior leader of the Nepal Communist Party (Unified Socialist), has expressed his anger against the government for not sending the letter to the US government for rejecting the state partnership program (SPP).

Speaking in a meeting of the House of Representatives (HoR) today, he raised a serious question about whether the executive rights of the country were anywhere else, not in the cabinet of Nepal.

“Why couldn’t we write the letter to the US government?” Is our executive right that it is not in our cabinet and is it somewhere else?”, he thundered.

The government has not sent the letter to the US government even after the decision in this regard was taken a month ago by the cabinet. The spokesperson of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MoFA), Sewa Lamsal, had recently informed the media that the letter was not sent to the US government as there was an ambiguity about the technical procedure to do so.
