Nepal Foreign Affairs (KATHMANDU, 22 February 2019) – A meeting of the House of Representatives today unanimously endorsed the proposal tabled seeking the consideration over the “Information Technology Related Bill-2075 BS”.
Minister for Communications and Information Technology Gokul Prasad Baskota presented the document.
Taking part in the theoretical aspects of the bill, Nawaraj Silwal termed the bill timely.
Pushpa Bhusal said it appeared against the sentiments of the constitution, demanding amendment while Gagan Thapa dismissed the idea about the registration of social networking sites.
Dila Sangroula, Mahesh Basnet, Yogesh Bhattarai, Khagaraj Adhikari, Bimala BK, Renuka Gurung and Surya Pathak were among others putting their views in the meeting.
In response to lawmakers’ queries, the Minister said the bill had nowhere stated the word to ban the cyber world. “We all know that freedom has no boundary, but we also are aware of its limitation which is never expected to be crossed,” he said.
Similarly, the Lower House session agreed to send the “Federal Civil Service Bill, 2075 BS” to the respective committee for clause-wise deliberations.
The proposal to this regard was presented by Minister for Federal Affairs and General Administration Lalbabu Pandit. The Lower House shall meet again at 11:00, February 26.
