Government recommends ambassadors to China, India

KATHMANDU, Sept. 1 (Nepal Foreign Affairs)–The government on Thursday recommended Leela Mani Paudyal and Deep Kumar Upadhayay as ambassadors to China and India respectively.

A Cabinet meeting held at the Prime Minister’s Office took a decision to recommend them as ambassadors, government spokesman Surendra Karki told media.

Mr. Paudyal, a former chief secretary, went on to become Nepali Consul General to Lhasa of Tibet Autonomous Region of China from 2003 to 2007.

Upadhayay, an NC leader, earlier served as Nepal’s Ambassador to India for nine months since April 2015. He was recalled by the government following his alleged involvement in toppling the then Oli-led government on May 6, 2016.
