India increases its security personnel at Kalapani area by double



RSS (KATHMANDU, 4 August 2020) – India has started increasing number of security personnel almost by double at border area from Dharchula to Kalapani. India has increased hundreds of security personnel at different posts from Lambaku to Nabidang via Lipulek. Hundreds of vehicles of SSB and army personnel are now mobilized along road section from Dharchula to Lipulek every day.

Locals said that India has increased surveillance through vehicles at border areas. A local Mukesh Budhathoki of Byas-2 said, “Earlier, there was no movement of vehicles of Indian security personnel. But hundreds of vehicles of Indian security personnel are now seen moving along the road section every day.” India security personnel had misbehaved to locals while constructing road at Tambaku area towards Nepal on June. India has widened the road towards its side after the government of Nepal kept a camp of Nepal Army at Ghatibagar.

A local Sher Singh Dhami shared that India has been expanding road at the area. India has constructed road taking Tambaku, Ghatibagar, Dopakhe, Pola, Budi and other areas the areas towards its side using bull-dozer. The India had not made any coordination with Nepali side in course of bringing bull-dozer in Nepali territory. The presence of Indian security forces has been increased and become regular after the Nepal Government issued its revised political and administrative map mentioning Kalapani, Lipulek, Limpiyadhura, Gunji, Nabi and Kuti as its parts.

Locals say they now see the remarkable presence of Indian security forces from Gunji to Kalapani to Nabidhangh unlike of the past. It seems that Indian side is much sensitive about the area. Indians are seen below the Kalapani area and hindering the movements of Nepali security forces and locals, according to Byas folks. The government has decided to set up the Armed Police Force (APF) no 50 company while the AFP’s BOP (border outpost) will be soon establishing at Kauwa and Tinkar, the areas near to Kalapani.

The Nepal Army has also its camp in the area and the structure is said to be for the purpose of road construction projects. The Api Nampa Conservation Area Office and the District Security Committee have proposed to depute Nepal Armies at Chhangru of Byas. Chief District Officer Sharad Kumar Pokhrel said there may be the presence of armies to enhance the security mechanism as management of border points is the top priority of district administration.
