KATHMANDU- Four members of the Japanese House of Representatives, led by Takebe Arata, Chair of the Standing Committee on Judicial Affairs, concluded a four-day visit to Nepal on Tuesday. The delegation also included Makihara Hideki, Michishita Daiki, and Oguchi Yoshinori. This visit marked the first high-level Japanese delegation to Nepal since KP Sharma Oli became Prime Minister on July 14, according to a statement from the Embassy of Japan in Kathmandu.
During their visit, the delegation met with key Nepalese officials, including President Ramchandra Paudel, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Urban Development Prakash Man Singh, Minister of Labour, Employment and Social Security Sarat Singh Bhandari, and Minister for Foreign Affairs Arzu Rana. Discussions focused on Japan-Nepal bilateral relations, particularly in areas such as people-to-people exchanges, the Specified Skilled Worker (SSW) Programme, the Technical Intern Training Program (TITP), and economic cooperation and investment.
The delegation also met with the Nepal-Japan Parliamentary Friendship League, led by Dr. Narayan Khadka.
In Kathmandu, they visited several educational and training centers, such as the Nepal-Japan Sewa Centre, Empowering Asia Language and Culture Centre, Japan-town, DN International, and Kantipur Japanese Language Centre. The MPs were impressed by the enthusiasm of the young Nepali students and workers preparing to study or work in Japan.
