Nepal hails nuclear deal on Iran



Nepal Foreign Affairs (Kathmandu, July 15) : The government has welcomed the agreement concerning ‘Iran’s Nuclear Programme’ reached between Iran and P5+Germany yesterday.

Issuing a press release on Wednesday, the government, has congratulated the parties on reaching the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action after the hectic negotiations that lasted for months.

“Nepal believes that the Plan of Action paves the way for peaceful resolution of this issue,’ read the statement.

As a staunch advocate of general and complete disarmament of all weapons of mass destruction, Nepal government has said that it believes the agreement will be instrumental in promoting international peace and security and upholding friendly relations among countries.

Iran and six world powers inked an agreement on the Iranian nuclear issue that will put Iran on the path of sanctions relief but more strict limits on its nuclear program.

Sanctions imposed by the United States, the European Union and the United Nations will be lifted in return for Iran accepting long-term cuts to its nuclear program as per the deal.

The comprehensive deal was forged between Iran and the P5+1 group, namely United Kingdom, China, France, Russia and the United States plus Germany, after more than two weeks of tough bargaining in Vienna.
