Nepal Foreign Affairs (KATHMANDU, Aug 27) : Ambassador of Nepal to the Republic of Singapore, Khaga Nath Adhikari, presented his Letters of Credence to Dr. Toni Tan Keng Yam, President of the Republic of Singapore in his office in the Istana, Singapore on Thursday.
Receiving the credentials from the ambassador, President Tan warmly welcomed the Ambassador Adhikari. The President mentioned the traditionally good and friendly relationship between the two countries and expressed happiness that Singapore has been of help in Nepal’s development. He also touched upon the recent earthquake in Nepal and hoped that the Nepalese people would soon recover from its effects. Expressing happiness of the exemplary services rendered by the Gorkha Contingent in Singapore, the President extended his best wishes for peace and progress of the Nepalese people.
Presenting his credentials, the ambassador sincerely thanked the president and for sparing time to receive them in the Istana. He conveyed warm greetings and best wishes from President Dr. Ram Baran Yadav for the President and the people of Singapore. He briefed the President about the ongoing process of reconstruction and rehabilitation in Nepal.
He also thanked the Government and the people of Singapore for their assistance in the relief of earthquake victims, and also for Singapore’s continued assistance in Nepal’s development, especially in human resource development. He also expressed thanks to the Government of Singapore for hosting the Gorkha Contingent, which has also contributed in further strengthening Nepal-Singapore relations. He hoped that bilateral cooperation between the two countries would be further promoted in the days ahead.
