Nepal Foreign Affairs (Kathmandu, Nov 13) : President of Nepali Congress leader of opposition in Parliament Sushil Koirala has sent a congratulatory message to Aung San Suu Kyi, Leader of National league for Democracy of Myanmar on the land Slide victory of her party in the recent election .
In his message President Koiralasaid “It is with great pleasure we learn of your landslide victory and that of your party National League for Democracy in historic general elections in Myanmar. I, on behalf of the members of the Nepali Congress, people of Nepal and on my own would like express our heartiest congratulations to Your Excellency on the impressive win of your party.”
Recalling her visit to Nepal last year to mark the 100th birth anniversary of the late B.P.Koirala, the first elected Prime Minister of Nepal and inspiring address on the ‘Relevance of Social Democracy’ President Koirala said, “We share your unswerving faith in democracy and humanity. The overwhelming mandate expressed by the people of Myanmar to your leadership inthe peaceful elections vividly demonstrates common commitment to democracy. “
President Koirala extended best wishes for herin her mission of advancing national unity and reconciliation within an overall framework of democratic polity and put the country on the path of inclusive development.
President Koirala has also praised the courage and commitment shown by the people of Myanmar in the recent election.
