PM Koirala attends Bandung Conference commemoration



Prime Minister Sushil Koirala attended the commemorative event of the 60th Anniversary of the Bandung Conference and the 10th Anniversary of the New Asian African Strategic Partnership 2005 in Bandung, Indonesia on Friday.

 

 

Prime Minister participated in the “Historical Walk” program along with other leaders of Asia and Africa. Following the walk program, the leaders of Asian-African countries observed a minute of silence in memory of the founding leaders. The Mayor of Bandung then recited the Dasasila Bandung, the ten principles of Bandung that also includes the Five Principles of Peaceful Co-existence. During the commemorative event, Joko Widodo, the President of the Republic of Indonesia; and Thein Sein, the President of the Union of Myanmar as the representative of Asia and Robert Mugabe, the President of Zimbabwe, as the representative of Africa, delivered their statements.

 

Later today, the Prime Minister also attended the symbolic signing ceremony of the Bandung Message-2015. The Message was jointly signed by Joko Widodo, the President of the Republic of Indonesia; and Xi Jinping, the President of the People’s Republic of China and His Majesty Mswati III, the King of Swaziland, on behalf of the countries of Asia and Africa respectively.

Mahendra Bahadur Pandey, the Minister for Foreign Affairs; Dr. Dinesh Bhattarai, Foreign Affairs Advisor to the Prime Minister; Shanker Das Bairagi, Acting Foreign Secretary; and Atul Koirala, Private Joint Secretary of the Prime Minister, were also present during the event.
