PM K.P Oli’s week-long visit to China begins Sunday (Press Release)



PM 2Rt. Hon’ble Mr. K.P. Sharma Oli, Prime Minister of Nepal is paying an official visit to the People’s Republic of China from 20-27 March 2016 at the invitation of H.E. Mr. Li Keqiang, Premier of the State Council of the People’s Republic of China.

The Rt. Hon’ble Prime Minister will be accompanied by his spouse Mrs. Radhika Shakya, Hon. Mr. Kamal Thapa, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for Foreign Affairs, Hon. Mr. Bishnu Prasad Paudel, Minister for Finance, Hon. Mr. Deepak Bohara, Minister for Commerce, Hon. Mr. Giriraj Mani Pokharel, Minister for Education, Mr. Bishnu Prasad Rimal, Chief Advisor to the Prime Minister, Members of the Legislature-Parliament, Chief Secretary, Secretaries and senior Government Officials as well as representatives of business community and media.

The Rt. Hon’ble Prime Minster of Nepal will pay a courtesy call on H.E. Mr. Xi Jinping, President of the People’s Republic of China during his visit.

On 21 March 2016, the Prime Minister will attend the welcome ceremony at the Great Hall of the People and hold bilateral official talks with his Chinese counterpart, H.E. Li Keqiang, Premier of the State Council of the People’s Republic of China , and discuss matters of mutual interests and common concerns. Following the official talks, the two leaders will witness the signing ceremony of bilateral Agreements and Memorandom of Understandings to be concluded between Nepal and China. A luncheon will be hosted by H. E. Li Keqiang, Chinese Premier, in honour of the Prime Minister of Nepal and his delegation.

The Prime Minister will also meet H.E. Mr. Yu Zhengsheng, Chairman of the Chinese People’s Political Consultative Conference.

The Prime Minister is scheduled to address the scholars, academics, business people and students at Renmin University on the theme of ‘Nepal-China Relations in the context of Belt and Road Initiatives’. He will also witness the signing ceremony of MOU on Granting Nepal the Status of Dialogue Partner of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO). He will address the Chinese and Nepalese business community at the China Council for Promotion of International Trade (CCPIT). On 22 March, he will attend the welcome dinner hosted by H. E. Dr. Mahesh K. Maskey, Nepalese Ambassador at Embassy of Nepal in Beijing. Ahead of the dinner, he will interact with the media people at the Embassy of Nepal in Beijing.

The Prime Minister will address the Boao Forum for Asia on the theme “Asia’s New Furure: New Dynamics, New Vision” at Boao, Hinnan province of China on 24 March 2016. In the same afternoon, he will visit Nepal Pavilion at Nanshan Park in Sanya.

He will be meeting Provincial and Municipal leaders in Xi’an of Shaanxi Province and Chengdu of Sichuan Province and address the business communities in the both places. During his sojourn, he will also inspect earthquake reconstruction zone and a hydroelectricity project in Sichuan province

The Prime Minister and and his entourage will return home on 27 March 2016 from Chengdu.
