PM Oli pledges to develop Solukhumbu as a toursism hub



Solukhumbu, Jan 4: Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli said that the government was committed to the development of touristic Solukhumbu.

In his address to the opening ceremony of Ngimdorji Sherpa Tourism Road held at Khumbu Pasang Lhamu Rural Municipality-2 Surke, he said that the development infrastructure will be improved here.     

Prime Minister Oli said that cooperation between the province and the federal governments will continue for the up-gradation of tourism roads.     

“Both governments will be responsible for upgrading and blacktopping the road section. The government will leave no stone unturned for the development of this district”, he said, adding that, “Further development works in Khumbu – the birthplace of world-renowned adventurers like National luminary Pasang Lhamu Sherpa and Tenzing Norge Sherpa will greatly help promote tourism here.”     

Reiterating the government’s commitment to make serious efforts to expand and upgrade the road network in the Khumbu region, Prime Minister Oli said that the government will pay special attention to build necessary infrastructure to further highlight the adventure tourism and cultural importance here.     

“Solukhumbu is a district full of tourism potentials. Being the gateway to the world’s highest peak, Mount Everest, this area has been attracting adventurous tourists, PM Oli said.     

“The government is ready to advance the development programme to make the local people financially strong”, he said.     

Prime Minister Oli believes that the upgradation of roads and the expansion of infrastructure will take the tourism business here to a new heights.     

It is expected that the construction of the road will facilitate the transportation facilities for the residents of Khumbu area, help advance overall economic and social development of the district, and make a historic contribution to tourism.(RSS)
