KATHMANDU- Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli has called on scientists to focus on new inventions and research that can help develop and bring prosperity to Nepal.
Speaking at the 47th Academic Assembly of the Nepal Academy of Science and Technology (NAST), held at his official residence in Baluwatar, PM Oli, who is also the chancellor of NAST, urged scientists to address practical issues like finding ways to treat soil contaminated by chemical fertilizers and pesticides.
He emphasized the importance of researching how to prevent harmful germs in vegetables while preserving the beneficial ones, which would boost production and productivity.
“Instead of doing random research, focus on topics that are necessary,” said PM Oli. He also stressed the need for collaboration with organizations like the Nepal Agricultural Research Council (NARC) to improve agricultural research. “I will lead by ensuring good governance, and I encourage scientists to make discoveries that contribute to the country’s progress,” he added.
