Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli virtually attended the programme on breakthrough of the Siddhababa Tunnel Way today.
The national pride project under the Siddharatha Highway runs to the stretch of 1.12 km from Butwal to Tansen.
PM Oli attended the breakthrough event virtually from his official residence, Singha Durbar, owing to health issues.
Inaugurating the breakthrough of the tunnel virtually, PM Oli expressed the belief that the tunnel would be proved a successful project giving the passengers a huge relief from the pain of the loss of lives and property and road accident owing to landslides.
He wished the bodies concerned tookbenefit from the tunnel. Earlier, the breakthrough of Thankot-Nagdhunga road section along the Prithvi Highway was made, easing road travel to and from the federal capital.
“It is a matter of happiness for the entire country that the breakthrough of the main tunnel of Siddhababa tunnel way took place today. Nepal’s geography is no longer a distant place as in the past,” the PM announced.
He further mentioned that his government would consider securing support from others to give impetus to development works and ensure good governance. “We will build our country,” he vowed, adding that the government will always focus on the works that are in the national interest.
Present in the programme were Deputy Prime Ministers Prakashman Singh and Bishnu Prasad Paudel, Minister for Physical Transport and Infrastructure Devendra Dahal, Chief Minister of Lumbini Province Chet Narayan Acharya and Chinese Ambassador to Nepal Chen Song among others.
The 1.12-km tunnel way will have double lanes with a width of 8.5 metres along with sidewalks.(RSS)
