Nepal Foreign Affairs (KATHMANDU, August 9) –
President Ram Baran Yadav and Prime Minitser Sushil Koirala have sent separate messages of condolence to U Thein Sein, President of Republic of Union of Myanmar on the loss of lives and properties caused by recent floods and landslides in the wake of torrential rains in several parts of the Republic of the Union of Myanmar on Sunday.
Both the President and the Prime Minister have extended their heartfelt condolences and sympathies to the President and the people of Myanmar as well as to the bereaved members of the families at the hour of tragic natural disaster, MoFA said in a press statement.
The President of Nepal has wished to see the friendly people of Myanmar and their homeland to be recovered and rebuilt soon.
Likewise, the Prime Minister has stated in the message that as a friendly country with long- standing relationship and a fellow member of the Bay of Bengal Initiatives for Multi- sectoral Technical and Economic Cooperation (BIMSTEC), Nepal stands by the Republic of the Union of Myanmar and expresses solidarity with its people.
