Nepal Foreign Affairs (KATHMANDU, 4 April 2017) : President Bidya Devi Bhandari has said that the media outlets should play constructive role to further strengthen the ties and for harmonious relations among the SAARC member states.
At a meeting with a team of journalists and professors from India in Sheetal Niwas on Tuesday, President Bhandari urged all to contribute from ones’ capacities to strengthen the Nepal-India relations. “I say this from the bottom of my heart to you (journalists and professors) to contribute from your respective position to further cement Nepal-India relations if you can and if not help to maintain the existing relations to be handed over to the future generation,” she said.
The President said that a generalized definition cannot incorporate the Nepal-India relations as it is ancient, deep and glorious. She said, “We have commonalities in language, religion, literature and costumes. The Bikram Sambat is also observed in India’s West Bengal, Punjab, Maharashtra and Gujarat.”
The Indian team of media workers and professors arrived in Nepal to attend a two-day conference on ‘Role of Media in Promotion of Nepal-India Relations’ organized by India’s Makhanlal Chaturvedi Journalism and Mass Media National University. RSS
