Saudi diplomat rape: Nepal Embassy in touch with MEA, says Nepal Ambassador

New Delhi, Sept. 9 (ANI): Nepal Ambassador to India Deep Upadhayay, said here on Wednesday that the embassy is in touch with the Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) and the local police authorities over the gang rape of two Nepali women at a Saudi Arabian Diplomat’s residence in Gurgaon.

“Nepal Embassy is in touch with MEA and local police authorities. The embassy understands that necessary investigation has been initiated. Upon learning of situation from local police, the Embassy sought help from MEA for rescue and necessary investigation of case,” Upadhyay said.

“Investigation is on, local police authorities are framing and establishing the case, until the police finalises the case, it would not be good to say anything more than that,” he added.

Responding to the question of identifying the Saudi Diplomat, Upadhyay said, “When the case is established, we will make a comment. We don’t know whether he’s (accused) a diplomat or not, we have good relations with the Saudi embassy.”

Police on Tuesday rescued two women who alleged that they had been tortured, sexually assaulted and kept in bondage for months in the home of a diplomat from Saudi Arabia. (ANI)
