KATHMANDU- Thai AirAsia is set to boost international connectivity at Gautam Buddha International Airport (GBIA) in Bhairahawa with flights from Bangkok four times a week. This development comes as the airport seeks to increase its international traffic following intermittent operations by Jazeera Airways and Himalaya Airlines since its opening two years ago.
The Civil Aviation Authority of Nepal (CAAN) has granted approval for Thai AirAsia to begin these flights, which are expected to enhance tourism and economic activities in the region. Chandra Prakash Shrestha, President of the Siddhartha Hotel Association, welcomed the decision, noting the potential positive impact on local tourism businesses. “We have been requesting regular international flights for a long time,” he said. “These flights will bring much-needed activity to Bhairahawa.”
