Top political parties agree to revisit TRC bill issues to make it widely acceptable



KATHMANDU- Political parties have agreed to deal with the transitional justice bill justifiably, making it acceptable to all.

A meeting among three major political parties and Speaker Devraj Ghimire took place at his Baluwatar-based residence today reached to an agreement to again hold discussions on matters of the bill and its procedures, according to Speaker’s press coordinator Shekhar Adhikari.

The three parties: Nepali Congress, CPN (UML) and the CPN (Maoist Centre) sat for discussions on the possible ways for taking the bill ahead and making the House more effective. The meeting was coordinated by Speaker Ghimire.

The meeting agreed to finalise the bill on consensus of joint committees in the Federal Parliament and other thematic committees. The next meeting over the bill is to take place at 1:00 pm on coming April 14. Prime Minister and CPN (Maoist Centre) Chair Pushpa Kamal Dahal ‘Prachanda’, Nepali Congress President and former Prime Minister Sher Bahadur Deuba and CPN (UML) Chair and former Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli were present in the meeting.

Likewise, it was attended by UML Chief Whip Padam Giri, Maoist Centre’s Chief Whip Hitraj Pandey, NC lawmaker Ishwori Neupane, Attorney General Dinmani Pokhrel and former Attorney General Ramesh Badal.
