KATHMANDU, Jan. 8 (Nepal Foreign Affairs)–UN Undersecretary General Jeffrey Feltman has held a meeting with Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli on Friday afternoon.
During the meeting, Feltman, who is also the UN political chief, enquired about stalled talks between the ruling parties and agitating parties.
The Undersecretary General also encouraged the prime minister to show maximum flexibility to resolve current political situation.
The UN political chief is scheduled to hold separate meetings with President Bidhya Devi Bhandari, Prime Minister K.P Sharma Oli, Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Kamal Thapa, Nepali Congress President Sushil Koirala and agitating Madhesi parties’ leaders Mahantha Thakur and Upendra Yadav among others.
The visit of UN top official has come at a time when Nepali people have been hitting hard due to the agitation by Madhesi parties in Terai region as well as the unofficial trade embargo imposed by India for the past three months after the country adopted the new Constitution.
