UN political chief to encourage leaders to show maximum flexibility to resolve Madhes unrest



CYDYinzWsAEeb3C.jpg smallKATHMANDU, Jan. 6 (Nepal Foreign Affairs)–UN Undersecretary General Jeffrey Feltman will be arriving in Kathmandu on a three-day official visit to encourage the Nepalese political leaders to show maximum flexibility to resolve current political situation, the UN Department of Political Affairs said on Twitter.

The UN political chief is scheduled to hold separate meetings with President Bidhya Devi Bhandari, Prime Minister K.P Sharma Oli, Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Kamal Thapa, UCPN (Maoist) Chairman Pushpa Kamal Dahal, Nepali Congress President Sushil Koirala and agitating Madhesi parties’ leaders Mahantha Thakur and Upendra Yadav among others.

The visit of UN top official comes at a time when Nepali people have been hitting hard due to the agitation by Madhesi parties in Terai region as well as the unofficial trade embargo imposed by India for the past three months after the country adopted the new Constitution.
