Nepal Foreign Affairs (KATHMANDU, 25 February 2019) – Visiting American Deputy Assistant Secretary of Defence for South and Southeast Asia, Joseph Felter, paid a courtesy call on Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for Defence Ishwor Pokhrel here today.
In the meeting held at the Ministry of Defence at Singha Durbar, Felter pledged that the American government will continue its support to Nepal in its development and prosperity agenda.
During the meeting, the two discussed about how to further consolidate Nepal-US ties in the recent changed context and how to garner support for Nepal for its development and economy prosperity agenda.
Talking to media persons after the meeting, DPM Pokhrel said that he had briefed the visiting American Deputy Assistant Secretary of Defence about the new national security policy, streamlining the security agencies and further strengthening the security forces in Nepal.
Stating that American government had lend its support to Nepal at very tough times, the DPM told Felter that although Nepal will not participate in the international and regional military alliances, there will always be cooperation between Nepal and USA in enhancing military ties between the two countries
