KATHMANDU, June 16 (Xinhua) –– Nepalese Vice President Nanda Bahadur Pun’s week-long official visit to China has taken China-Nepal bilateral ties to a new height, the Vice President’s Office said here Thursday.
“The vice president’s official trip to (China’s ) Kunming has been highly successful in taking China-Nepal bilateral ties to a new height,” the vice president’s office said in a press statement.
While mentioning a meeting between Vice President Pun and Chinese Vice Premier Wang Yang in Kunming, the statement said that the vice president reaffirmed Nepal’s position to actively participate in the Belt and Road Initiative proposed by China.
“Nepal extends full support to the Belt and Road Initiative envisioned by Chinese President Xi Jinping and believes that the ancient silk routes revival in the modern forms will contribute to meeting common interests and enhancing development cooperation among countries of this region including Nepal and China,” the Nepalese vice president was quoted in the press statement as saying during his meeting with Wang Yang.
This was the first overseas trip by the Nepalese vice president since he assumed office on Dec. 31, 2015. Enditem
